Hello everyone!

Due to popular demand, we are having 1 more adoption drive on 26 December Boxing Day to find homes for our cats and kittens. There are still many adults cats all with wonderful personalities waiting for your love. We also have some kittens that are between 6 weeks and 3 months old. Adoption Drive!

Due to unavoidable circumstances, Blessing Home is forced to move by February 2012. We’re still looking for a new place that can house 150 cats and 4 humans. If you know of any place available, please let us know.

To facilitate our move and to avoid putting down or releasing the cats, we are having an adoption drive. We have cats aged 6 months and above for adoption – affectionate tabbies, playful tortoiseshells, demure Persians and chatty Siamese crossbreeds, and many, many more.

We care for the well being and happiness of all our kitties and potential owners. To ensure that your visit will be a productive one, please note the following:

• There are no kittens for adoption.

• Potential adopters will be interviewed to assess their suitability, and acceptance is strictly at
the BH interviewer’s discretion.

• A small fee is payable upon acceptance, to cover the costs incurred for the cat’s
sterilization and vaccinations.

Peace at the vet's

Peace resting at Blessing Home - fed, safe and loved

Peace, a calico was rescued from Changi on 23 August 2011. Two volunteers were coming back to their car after a walk when they spotted a little cat under the cat. It came out when they meowed at it. As they were playing with it, they noticed it had pus down the right armpit to the stomach area. They lifted the arm and realised there was a hole in the armpit and the pus was coming from there and the hole was still open.

They went to find a box and the quiet little cat did not struggle or attempt to bite or scratch them. It stayed in the box all the way until the vet. Even the vet was impressed by the little cat's calm and quiet. At the vet, it did not struggle or resist examination and just sat there, occasionally glancing at the door. Peace seemed like the perfect name for the little cat. After it was sewn up and sterilised, the finders put out a notice online and on facebook looking for adopters. A kind ex-colleague of one of the finders offered to take it after it has recovered.

So Peace stayed at Blessing Home and waited to go to a lovely new home. In the meantime she put on 2kg and was allowed to go for short walks as her arm heals and the wound dries up. Safe, fed, loved and happy.

But perhaps, like peace in the world today, it needs a fighting chance. The little cat was brought to the vet today as she had been vomiting. The tests revealed that this sweet calm little cat has kidney failure. Even the vet said that it is rare for such a young cat to get kidney failure at such a young age. It would not be fair to expect the adopter to take her home now. She is on drip now and will have to be given insulin everyday when she leaves the vet. Phyllis as usual, will keep it and the finders will support her. If you would like to contribute to Peace's medical bills, please email Phyllis and let her know.

We have just been evicted! The only safe haven we have ever known since our rescue from the streets is being taken away. We have until the end of January.

Whiskey is a handsome male cat. He was rescued from Sunset Way and earnestly wants a home. Whiskey takes time to warm up to you, but after some time, he likes to put his face in yours ;). Will you take him home?

July Girl

July Girl used to live in a guardhouse at an MRT station construction site. But the MRT station was completed soon enough, and the guard who took care of her left her behind. A feeder from Telok Blangah rescued her and brought her to Blessing Home. She loves sniffing at new things but is also languid and peaceful at times. Will you like to take her home?

Buttercup was rescued from Geylang with her mother. However, her mother has passed away now and she is all alone. She is playful cat who loves rolling around in her bed. When she is done she will gaze at you with her big loving eyes. Will you make her your companion today?

Merry came with Christmas. An expat family had adopted them for the daughter who wanted cats. When they decided to leave Singapore, the father brought the two cats to the vet to be put down. Shocked and angry at the irresponsible behaviour, Phyllis brought the cats home and named them after the season they arrived. Merry is a friendly cat who will come rub your legs and hang out there. Will you be willing to give her a home?

White White was dumped at a condo in Jalan Kayu after her owners moved out. Longing for a home, she kept running into the other residents' units. A teacher told Phyllis about it and that's how White White ended up at Blessing Home. White White loves faces. She likes to sit at a level where she can reach your face and chest and when you come close, she will put her paw on your chest and say 'I love you' ;)

Fat Girl

August Girl was rescued by Lydia and Penny. She was found pregnant, so the rescuers decided on a sterilisation. It was at the vet that they realised that she is completely blind. One of her eyes look ok, but she is totally blind in both eyes. She is a very sweet and calm cat and needs a house that would be able to be a safe and calm environment for her. An An was rescued from Tiong Bahru. When the block of flats she was staying at along with all the other cats went enbloc, the feeder had no choice but to bring her to Blessing Home for rehoming. Along with her came 6 others like Ping Ping, Wang Wang etc. Do come and see them. Who knows, you might just fall in love...

Viki was rescued from a condo under construction in Chinatown. She was pregnant so she had to be brought in. She is very very sweet tempered. Every morning, she will greet you very politely and when you feed her, she will butt you with her head to say 'thank you'. You will not regret bringing her home. Will you give Viki a home?

Bear was rescued by a university student from Sunset Way. She was housed at Blessing Home with the promise that she would take it home, but that never happened. Bear is a sweet little cat, with really beautiful and soft fur. She is very shy here with the camera, but she is a very affectionate cat. Kitti was abandoned in the condo unit when her previous owner moved out. She ran into the neighbour's house in hunger. Traps were set for her and she was rescued from AVA. Jojo was rescued from Jalan Kayu when the hawker closed down and he needed a home. He is a really sweet gentle cat who doesn't need a lot of attention. He is happy to lie there and wait for you to get your chores done. Of all the cats, only he stayed still for this photograph to be taken. Wouldn't you want a cat like that? :)

Kiki is part of a litter of 8, rescued from Pasir Panjang. An old Burmese man picked them up, with their mother, but was ordered to remove them by his landlord. So Phyllis had no choice but to take them in. Four of her brothers and sisters have already been adopted. The photo does not do her justice. She is really very sweet. Will you be willing to bring her home?

Guinness was rescued from a drain from Changi. He was trapped in a covered drain and his leg was injured. He is a fantastically sweet boy who doesn't even flinch when his temperature is taken from his anus or when he is given an injection. Even the vet is shocked by his sweet personality. When he was set on the floor, he just walked back calmly into the carrier by himself, to go home. Don't you want a cat companion like that in your home?

Goldie is a sweet quiet affectionate cat rescued from the street when her feeder could no longer feed her. You don't quite notice her at first but she has a sweet, kind demeanour. One of her eyes looks a little blur but she sees perfectly.

Chilli was rescued from the Queenstown rubbish dump. She was living with a old dumb-and-deaf man who lived in the dump with a few other cats and a dog. He was chased out when the flats went enbloc. So Phyllis helped the old man sterilise all the cats and settled him in a church. Chilli's leg was bitten and she was pregnant at that time, so she ended up in Blessing Home.

Cempedak was dumped at the groomer. A kind couple, Mr and Mrs Nathan, helped the groomer to board the cats at Blessing Home. Cempedak is a sweet gentle cat who is affectionate and likes gentle strokes.

Bee Hoon

Bee Hoon was rescued from the streets, with her second pregnancy in a year. Her rescuer decided on the abortion and her sterilisation at the same time. She is a really affectionate lap cat who just wants to be cuddled all the time.
